The Best way to start a riff is to start with good chord progression.
Let's start with key oF G na rin:
Imbis na Regular G bar code sa 3rd fret, gawin mong GM7th na compose of four notes lang, (e.g.. G-6th.string, X-5th.s, F#-4th.s, B-3rd.s, D-2nd.s, X-1st.s), X means dead string..

Same with minor chords.
Am convert mo sa Am9th or Am7th with four notes lang din.
Em to Em7th, Em11th or Em9th with four notes lang.

Yung chord progression kung lalaruin mo siya eh magiging jazzy yung tunog. I start my riff with these chords, kahit ordinaryong Major scale lang magtutunog jazz kapag ganyan ang ginamit mong chords.

Pede ka rin magpasok ng mga Augmented 5th chords, like for example, bago ka bumalik ng G Major eh meron muna passing chord na D Major, pede mo gawin yung D7th aug5th with four notes.

Most of them four notes lang which means gagamitin mo yung apat na daliri mo at dead string na yung iba..

tas s D pd ka gumamit ng Am6 at G#7 para makabalik sa GM7 hehehehe pero pd mgsubtitute s G#7 mo ay D13b5b9 na no root tska bumalik s GM7 tig 2 counts padin.
